The Ecuador Medical Tourism Association, realizing the challenges facing cancer patients in North America, has found a way to help these individuals find affordable treatment without compromising quality of care.

The SOLCA Cancer Institute was founded in 1957 by a group of physicians who embarked on a mission to eradicate cancer in Ecuador. First, with a single facility in Guayaquil, SOLCA has now grown to six different facilities around the country. Of these seperate locations, it is the SOLCA institute in Cuenca that is most heavily sought after. Patients come from all over Ecuador, and the surrounding region, to recieve treatment from the physicians at Cuenca's SOLCA.

It is the SOLCA Cancer Institute's mission is to promote prevention and early diagnosis of cancer and to offer a level of professional treatment and comfort to rival the finest facilities in the world, with the goal of seeing cancer eradicated in Ecuador.

Some 30,000 patients from all over Ecuador are treated at Solca for various types of cancer each year. Aside from offering traditional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, SOLCA is also actively involved in discovering and utilizing cutting-edge ways of combatting cancer. In addition to treatment and research, SOLCA has continued from it's founding to educate Ecuadorians on the prevention and early recognition of cancer.

In addition to traditional and chemical cancer treatments, here in Cuenca there is a wide variety of non-invasive, natural treatments and remedies to be found here in Cuenca that are not available in North America.
